A Spectacular Malachite Table Arrives at Crystal World

Something rather spectacular has just arrived at Crystal World.

After one of Tom’s recent geological field trips, this incredible malachite table has finally made its way into his personal collection. The team has been busy getting this enormous piece unpacked, moved and set up in Tom’s house.

Just look at the patterns in this amazing table. The surface is almost mesmerising, with concentric bands, sweeping curves and variations in colour flowing across the polished malachite. These natural patterns formed over millions of years as mineral-rich fluids moved through the rock, creating the distinctive designs that make malachite so recognisable.

Malachite is a fascinating mineral because its beauty is often hidden until it is carefully cut and polished. In its natural state, it can form as rough, velvety or rounded botryoidal clusters, sometimes alongside minerals such as chrysocolla and azurite. Once polished, the incredible banding and green colour variations are revealed.

For now, this magnificent table is joining Tom’s personal collection, where it can be enjoyed as both a striking piece of furniture and an amazing example of what can form deep within the Earth.

What do you think — impressive coffee table, or far too good to put a coffee cup on?
