HISTORY OF CRYSTAL WORLD EXHIBITION CENTRE.
Tom Kapitany’s Crystal World and Prehistoric Journeys grew organically, out of a deep love and passion for collecting all things Natural History. After completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne, where he majored in Botany, Geology and Molecular Biology ( Masters prelim), Tom worked alongside his brothers to establish the specialist retail nursery selling rare plants known as Collectors Corner at Garden World in Braeside, Melbourne.
This nursery proudly specialises in collecting rare plant-life hailing from all four corners of the world such as Cacti, Orchids, Bonsai, Carnivorous Plants and Bromeliads. In this very shop, Tom first decided to start selling Fossils, Minerals and Meteorites from his personal collection- this endeavour marked the beginning of a very important chapter in Tom’s life, eventually allowing him to open Crystal World back in 1999 to focus on Crystal Mining in Australia.
Crystal World is Australia’s largest importer and exporter of gems, crystals, minerals, fossils, meteorites, carvings and unique specimens as well as operating 35 +mining leases to acquire these specimens. Our two gallery showrooms are always stocked to full capacity, with a variety of new and unique items showcasing Tom and his brothers’ collections as well as selling excess specimens to help fund their adventures around the world. We have an enormous amount of inventory and, as a result, only a small fraction of our range can be displayed at any given time.
Our wholesale and retail customers are more than welcome to visit our Exhibition Centre gallery at 13 Olive Road in Devon Meadows, Victoria, Australia 3977 . If you have any questions, feel free to call us on +61 3 5998 2493. At our Exhibition Centre we also have a facility devoted to the craft of cutting, polishing and processing a wide variety of Australian rough stone crystals, as well as a Dinosaur fossil prep lab.
Tom is a global leader in the intriguing field of mining for gems, minerals and fossils holding over thirty-five mining tenements as well as exploration licenses Australia-wide.
We take special interest in mining for crystals, from giant Garnets Tourmalines and Dravites, to Magnetite crystals, Mookaite, Variscite, Amethyst, Crinoid fossils, Marra Mamba Tiger’s Eye, Banded Iron formation of Tiger Iron, Prehnite and many more.
